ABOUT CHET VALLEY VOICES

The concept of Chet Valley Voices come from the Christmas and Easter choirs that Rev Alison puts together.
After the 2018 Christmas Carol Service, there were murmurings about getting a full time choir started - so in February 2019 Terry, Tracey, Lynn and Sue got together to work out the logistics of starting a choir. The aim would be to enable people of all ages to come together and experience the benefits that singing with others can offer, in a fun and satisfying way.
It was decided to hold a meeting in the hopes of finding out how many people would be interested in a choir. Over twenty people turned up to that meeting, which allowed for a choir name to be chosen, along with a day and time for rehearsals.
After successfully finding the funding required to get the project off the ground, all that was left was to pick a start date - September 2019.
Our first public appearance was a request from the Parkinson’s Charity fashion show at Funky Feet’s dance studio, followed by Loddon’s Victorian Evening. Three months later we were giving our first concert.
Along with many other groups, come March 2020 everything came to a halt due to the pandemic. The choir remained dormant until April 2022, after Covid restrictions had relaxed enough to make rehearsals practical again.
New members are always welcome to come along. We do not hold auditions, and whilst music is provided there is no requirement to be able to read sheet music. The first session is always free, with following sessions being £5 on the door.
Doors open Thursdays evenings (term time) at 6:45pm, with the rehearsal running 7pm-8:30pm.
